I am wondering how I might fix this problem. It doesn’t matter which treadle I engage, the bottom ends are loose. I am grateful for any advice you can give me. Thanks
Loose bottom ends when shed is open
Is it possible that your warp is not going over the back beam?
Thanks for your response😊 yes it is going over the back beam, I am stumped as to what I am doing wrong!
It will help us to trouble shoot if we know what type of loom are you weaving on, and what you are weaving. For example, if you have a long double width warp on, there are specific ways to fix a loose bottom layer. Can you give us a little more detail, please?
Thanks for responding, I am using a four shaft jack loom with a warp for tea towels, very basic as I am new to this😊. I am pretty sure it is something I am doing wrong with my warp or putting it on the loom. The last two warps I have had the same problem. Thanks for any insights you can give me,
I'm wondering if you wound onto the warp beam in the wrong direction for your loom? Stand on the side of the loom that has a handle on the warp beam. Looking down the beam, did you wind on clockwise or counterclockwise? Check the paperwork that came with your loom, and see if maybe you should have wound on the other way.
What brand / model is your loom? Maybe somebody with the same loom type could chime in and tell you whether you should be winding clockwise or counterclockwise.
Also, are you absolutely sure you went over the back beam? That is a different piece than the warp beam, so the warp goes around the warp beam then over the back beam as well. It's just that a sloppy bottom when weaving is usually forgetting to go over the back beam. And we've all done that at some point or another in our weaving journey. :-)
Thank you! I will double check everything again!
