Thank you very much for share your process. I need some time to process, but am totally fall in love with your weave.
Season 7 - Layering Colour & Weave and Texture
Wow, thank you!
So much to discover here, I need more time.
Wowsers! You’ve really taken the tools and made them yours. Thanks for the inspiration.
It seems we are still unable to reply to posts :/
Thanks so much, Nancy Magyar, Kathleen, yusuzuki7, Catherine S, and janejef! 🌻
Hi David,
I've contacted support regarding this issue and I'll reach out to them again to see where they are at with it. They are aware of this problem. We're hoping for a fix soon :)
Thanks from me, too, Ginette.
I love this forum but am becoming less and less likely to be involved due to several issues. While you’re talking to support, can you find out if it’s possible to make it so clicking on a comment goes to the actual comment. It’s very tiresome to have to scroll through pages and pages to get to them. That and the fact that we can’t drag and drop images. It’s a lot of work to post pictures here. Thanks so much. Know that we appreciate all you and the JST team do. Sorry to whine so much. 🥰
Hi lovely people!
I hope you are all well and life is being kind to you.
I just finished hemming another set of Christmas gifts - this time a set of towels based on Season 7 Episode 6 - Crackle on Opposites! I had such a lot of fun with this warp. It reminded me of Halvdräll in many wonderful ways. The finished cloth is amazing and soft and squishy and I love it to bits.

---
My profile was inspired by Jane's but I went a little sideways and did my own thing. It's obviously an asymmetrical division of space in two, and I squished Mr Fibonacci in there with 3's, 5's, and 8's.

---
Woven as per Jane's instructions with 8/2 tabby and 8/4 pattern weft, at 15 EPI (1/dent in a 60/10 metric reed).
All of my hems were the same: 8 picks PW (inner hem), 16 picks 2/2 twill treadles (outer hem), 20 picks 2/2 twill treadles (top and bottom frames of towel). This made the inside and outside of the towel the same and helped to hide the machine stitching.
---
Towel #1:
- grey hems/frames
- half woven treadle 2
- divider - 16 picks 2/2 twill treadles in red
- second half woven treadle 4

---
Towel #2:
- grey hems/frames
- one third treadle 2/treadle 1
- divider as above
- second third treadle 4/treadle 3
- divider
- last third as per first

---
Towel #3:
- this is pretty much my profile
- red hems/frames
- three repeats (x 3 in dark grey section)
- eight repeats (x 5 in dark grey section)

---
Towel #4
- black hems/frames
- asymmetrical division of space in two
- I really like the graphic, I don't much care for the colours, but I have limited 8/4 in my stash. Should have woven with doubled 8/2... I like the result, but I don't love it.

---
Towel #5
- pale limette hems and frames
- asymmetrical division of space in two
- top section is playing with blocks and squaring squares so the big square is 5 x 5
- bottom section is DDDD LLLL in black and brass
- if I did this again, I'd probably weave the bottom section in something a little heavier, maybe 5/2. It feels a bit floppy compared to the top section. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

---
Towel #6
- black hems and frames
- 7 cm header/footer in natural (7 cm to centre the graphic)
- asymmetry stripe sequence - 4 cm stripe, 2 cm gap, repeat...
I tried to do some kind of gradation of colour but failed in the stash department and made do with what I had. I need to do some shopping to fill the holes in my boucle stash :) Boucle colours are dark brown (barely visible against the black), pale limette zinger, light brown, flax. Tabby is black.

---
Towel #7
- lucky last just might be my favourite :)
- black hems and frames
- 11 cm header in natural boucle
- asymmetry stripe sequences - all 2 cm this time
- 18 cm footer in natural boucle
Boucle colours are - pale limette, turmeric zinger, turquoise, peacock.
Black tabby throughout.

---
That's it! Happy Holidays to you all! :)
Fabulous David...and thanks once again for the wonderfully detailed notes. I also love the final towel the best, but they are all fabulous.
Those are beautiful, And I ditto Cheryl's comment. Lots of great information on your process is always welcome!
Thanks so much, Cheryl and Deb! 😊🌻
David...
I just saw your BEAUTIFUL napkins! They took my breath away.
I'm not very caught up here as we are in the middle of a kitchen remodel, so weaving have been sparse lately, and I still find it cumbersome to scroll through sooooo many comments to get to the ones that are sent as alerts in an email. Sorry for the delayed response, but I just had to tell you how beautiful those are! The colors reminded me of the Charlotte Special towels which I did last year and were my favorites.
Hi all, the reply function for the forum here should be fixed by the end of December. We'll keep you informed when it happens but be assured they are working on a fix for it as it was a function we previously had.
As for the difficulty in finding posts, would it be helpful if we returned to having individual threads for each episode? This thread here is absolutely wonderful and has become a mega thread with 189 replies, which is great but hard to find info on each of the episodes for Season 7 :)
We could have the specific lesson threads under a season 'board'? Boards appear at the very top of the first page of the forum. I just prioritized the Season 7 Board to appear at the top of all the boards to help find it faster, I think it got lost throughout the year. I hope you all can see Board Season 7 when on this page https://www.schoolofweaving.tv/forums
Oh, David, your towels are amazing!! Thanks for the great info you provided as well!
That is great news, Ginette. And ANYTHING will help with making the threads less cumbersome to scroll through. I guess I am finding it hard to believe that this is a difficult fix as I also belong to another group that uses Mighty Network which is super easy to navigate. You can see which comments are new, and when there is a notification of a particular comment you click on it and it takes you directly there. And images are drag and drop. As I have mentioned earlier, I often hesitate to post images because it is such a tedious process. I am sure that you have your reasons for using this particular interface, but to be honest, it is not easy to use. Especially for newcomers. I have been here for a couple of years and I still find it user unfriendly. Again, I LOVE THIS PLACE, appreciate all of you, and so I hate to complain over and over. Thanks again for working on it for us.
Hi Deb,
I hear you and absolutely understand. This forum comes with the platform that School of Weaving is using and it keeps everything in one place for SoW & our weavers. We are a chatty group here which is great, but not so much the other sites that use the same platform as us so changes and upgrades done by them may take a wee bit longer. Vimeo OTT does have our list of suggestions, so that’s good. And thanks for the info on the other site, I’ll pass this on.
If you're looking for suggestions - I would love a better search function. Right now, for example, if you search for the word "shetland", the search returns only 4 threads that contain the word "shetland" in the title of the thread. It doesn't search for the word "shetland" in text of the actual post or the comments and replies added to the thread. There have been so many times when I've tried to find something I know I read on the forum a few months ago, but I can't remember exactly which post it was from. The search on the key word doesn't find it. I think this results in more repetitive questions being asked on the forum, as users don't have the tools to search for information they're looking for. There is so much great information in this forum, we just can't find it.
Thanks so much Ginette. I think it is important, and I know I am not alone--I'm just the squeakiest wheel. LOL.
