I am all threaded for towel No. 1 and it is 25 inches wide. When I started weaving none of the colors are separated. What in the world am I doing wrong?
Season 7 - Layering Colour & Weave and Texture
Are you alternating your X/Y treadles??
I am sorry but forgot to tell you I am weaving Halvdrall towell no. 1. emckenzie @cox.net
Are you overlaying your blocks of DDL on top of your repeated A & B blocks? For instance in the body of the towel after the Charcoal frame, you are weaving DDL so D=Ax5, D=Bx5 in Cayenne and then L=Ax5 in Natural.
Thank you so much for your help!! My mistake. I am sorry. I really am excited about getting started now. Jane is such a great teacher. She is so down to earth, and I have learned more from her in the past 2 years than I ever learned in many years of weaving. Please tell her Thank You for me. Once again thank you also. Georgene
Don’t apologize - sometimes it helps to have someone else looking at your issue with fresh eyes. Please don’t ask me how I know 😉 I’m happy we worked it out!
Do you remember my botched warp for Halfdrall?
I warped the whole section with 3 in my hand, 2 cayenne and 1 white, instead of the striping sequence.
On the loom it looked sometimes crisscross like in an anthilll , but patterning got a bit clearer after washing.

🥰 Second one is my favorite !
Catherine these are beautiful !
On Season 7 Episode 1, am I the only one who got confused by this part of the warping/threading???? Forgive the scribbling on the pattern, I was figuring out how to narrow the project by a couple of inches to fit on the loom I was using.
I read this as warp/thread 2 green, 2 bleached x 21. After re-threading 2x, I finally figured out it should be threaded as 4 green/ 4 bleached.
Also, If you are changing the width of this project, be sure to adhere to the correct dark/light placement when removing or adding units.

If the directions can spell out 4 threads of bleached and 4 threads of peacock for the center section, why wasn't it written more clearly that the borders were ALSO in units of 4 threads of bleached and 4 threads of limette? I quite literally spent ALL DAY Saturday threading and re-threading before I looked, just, at the little color groups on the profile draft and a lightbulb went off.
Edited to add: when looking at this photo blown up by my computer, I JUST saw the bottom sentence where it said borders are a 4x4 sequence.....Why couldn't that have just be printed as 4 threads in the warp sequences ???
Thanks for pointing this out. I also missed the bottom sentence when winding my warp and followed the warp sequence as described. I've just started weaving the first towel and have been completely baffled as to why the border looks completely different to Jane's. I guess I have to keep going with the warp I have.
That’s confusing for sure.
Hi Cheryl, In the video I talk about why I did that…..it is similar to the 4/4 sequence that we used in the Colour and Weave Gamp back in season 2. I put on 2 light, then went on to hold 2 light/2 dark in my hand so that when you thread…
You have 2 light on your lease sticks…you thread those 1 and 2,
Then you come to your first batch of 2 light, 2 dark…so you take the 2 light first and then the 2 dark.
Then you come to your next batch of 2 and 2 and you take the 2 dark which gives you your 4 dark in a row. It makes the warping go much faster than stopping and starting every 4 ends. I drew it on the board as a reminder. It is in 7.1..3. I’m so sorry it caused you such trouble. I’ll get Ginette to add something to the pattern like. Be sure to watch 7.1.3 before you start :)
Thanks Jane. I did watch the video a couple of times. It obviously didn’t stick in my brain. All is well now and the weaving looks great.
Good day, I just finished recreating in Fiberworks Terry Mattison's runner from Episode 5. Would it be possible to get the specifications on the fibers she used for this project for warp, tabby and pattern weft and sett ? I would love to weave placemats out of this pattern. I love this school so much! Jane is a great teacher!
Good morning, Anne Marie - the items woven by the Dream Team do not stay in the Studio, so we don't have them to refer to. My guess is that she has used 16/2 linen (which comes in an amazing range of colours), but I haven't personally seen Terri's amazing runner. You can certainly weave your version of this runner and make it your own by choosing the yarns you like. And sample to make sure the results are what you are looking for ;-)
Thank you for your quick reply! I did not realize the items from the Dream Team were returned to their creators! I will experiment with coton and linen.

I love this halvdrall weave structure and it is so easy. I finished and sold these towels at my first craft market of the season this weekend. Just have to make more.
These lovely! I can't wait to get to season 7. Stalled on the last two......
Beautiful!
