I'm having problems when weaving the 3/1 tie-ups. The 1/3 tie up is perfect. When I go to the 3/1 tie-ups, the warp does not sit at the bottom of the reed and I don't have a clean shed. It seems that with the 1,2,3 treadle, 4 comes part way up instead of staying where it belongs. With 2,3,4, the 1 comes up, etc. Whatever shaft is not tied up is the one that rises. Instead of laying at the bottom of the reed so that I have a clean shed to weave, it rises about 1/2 - 1". I have a Gilmore eight-shaft floor loom. I've tried everything I can think of without success. Help! Thank you.
Hummmm, have you taken a good look under the loom to see if the lengths of your treadle ties are equal length all the way across, and aren't caught on anything. Your treadles should be exactly the same height from the ground, before you start weaving. It sounds like there is a "catch" somewhere under the loom. I've never woven on a Gilmore, and I can't think of anyone who has one. Why don't you get in touch with the manufacturer to see if they have something they can suggest......
