I am about 1/2 way through winding a striped warp for tea towels and just realized I left out two narrow stripes (8 threads each/16 total) about a quarter of the way in. The warp will look odd without them, as it is supposed to be symmetrical. I do not have a second back beam. Is it possible to wind a chain with those missing threads and add them in as I am dressing the loom? I warp back to front. Thanks for any input.
I've added missing bouts on to the back beam-in between the main chains, spread out onto the raddle and wound it as usual.
You could also try the version that Jane notes in season 7.1.4 turned twill. There's a version where She uses two warps.
Both happen during the raddle step before winding it up.
I've also driven myself insane by hanging multiple loose weighted threads from the back that had to be adjusted as I wove.
I've used cardboard with notches to keep the threads from tangling and twisting together too much.
Someone else will probably have an even easier solution. These are just some based on my own countless mistakes.
Happy Weaving!
Thanks much! I have hung individual threads but I always have trouble getting the tension even at the start. I like the idea of handling it at the raddle much better! I will also check out 7.1.4. Cheers!
I just had a similar problem, but noticed after winding onto the back beam...in the middle of threading.
I made a baby warp of 12 threads and threaded them in the heddles, and I will weight them off the back.
The question I have is will this baby warp cause issues with tangling, as it will be laying on top of the wound warp? If so, what do you recommend?
Thanks in advance!
Well, I’ve done that too.
I do not recall that being an issue since the warp itself is tight from from to back.
I’ve fussed more with keeping the weighted dangling threads from twisting around each other.
