Season 9 Episode 7 - Honeycomb+

Oh my goodness, I can't tell you how much fun I've had weaving this episode. It all started with a simple plan of preparing an episode on Honeycomb... that wonderful textural threading variation that we can weave on so many structures. You see all kinds of variations in Marguerite Davison's A Handweaver's Pattern Book, usually on Overshot and Monk's Belt, but not only there. I started by weaving 2 scarves in Alpaca, which are simply gorgeous, if I may say so! You'll see how luscious they are when you watch the video.

Then I got carried away and made a 2nd project that was very special because I wove everything in it for my home. I ended up making connections to so many structures we have woven over the years. I decided to bring it all forward and weave cushion covers, exploring not only a Honeycomb tie-up and treadling, I also celebrated plain weave, Honeycomb, Monk's Belt, Tufted Weft, Cording (where you encase a block of either A or B), Turned M's & O's, and weaving with willow. Graphic reigned supreme, and I played with composition on every piece. It was a joyful journey, and it's all on 4 shafts! I hope you enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed creating it.
