Season 10 Episode 5 - Cannelé aka Spider Weave Created by Barbara Mitchell

Cannelé isn’t a weave structure, it is a treadling system similar in some ways to Honeycomb. In this case the nice chubby supplementary weft thread sits entirely on the surface of the cloth and is held in place by supplementary warp threads that make it deflect and go all zigzaggy. It is so cool.
I asked our darling Barbara Mitchell to create an episode using this structure, and she has as usual, overlaid so many amazing ideas from past episodes of the School of Weaving onto this project. Barbara was not able to be with us for the filming, so I invited JST’s resident dyer Sharon Bloedorn to step in and be our presenter.
The show and tell is amazing as usual. My Dreamteamers bring so much to these episodes. They take the ideas on journeys that truly inspire.
I hope you enjoy the ride.
