Hi all, loving the sequins in pocket kit I got from Jane. The first three scarves went swimmingly but I am puzzling over scarf 4 using the turned twill tie up. Do I need floating selvedges on this project.p? I am finding that I am not catching the edge on the left hand side of my warp when I depress pedal 6 which raises harnesses one and five. Your advice is welcome and appreciated
Sequins in pocket scarves, 8 shafts
I didn’t weave that version, but why not just add a floating selvage thread and hang it, weighted off the back of the loom?
Hi Cheryl, I added the selvedges but can’t get them to float in the middle of the shed. Have you got some advice?
Thread shouldn’t be in a heddle and have some weight on it. And it needs to be in it’s own dent in the reed.
Yes, that’s what I did but it is still not sitting in the middle of the shed. I usually include the selvedges in when I am warping and having never hung them off the back so I am not sure how to fix things.
Jane are you hanging the thread over the back beam? Can you show me a photo tomorrow?
Hi Cheryl, yes they are in pill bottles hanging off the back of the loom but tied in with the bouts with the rest of the threads on the front apron. Maybe they need to be tied on separately. I will attempt to upload a pic. Thanks for your help
I am not sure I can up load a pic but the threads are in weighted pill bottles hanging off the back
That’s what I will do, thanks. Makes things much simpler
Hi Cheryl, thanks for your time and help. I finally got my selvedges to float properly by tying the selvedge threads separately onto the front apron rod instead of tying them on as part of the first bout of warp threads. Kelly Casanova recommended it for when selvedges are added separately. Seems to work. Thanks again for your kindness. Happy weaving!
Jane, you are very welcome and I am happy that you can continue on with your project...whew !!
