Season 8-Episode 1 - M's & O's Goes on a 2nd Date
How exciting that Season 8 is starting! I watched a little last night as soon as it came out. Now I need to watch "Ponyo". I love Totoro the most of all Miyazaki's movies I watched so far but haven't watched Ponyo yet.
I was thinking about the shifting threads in the log-cabin PW-ish. Would sleying 1 per dent make a difference?
At 1 per dent - your width in loom would be 47.6" wide.
Well, you could select a different reed to maintain the original sett for this project. Anyhoo, this was more of a thought about keeping the plain-weave-ish thread separated and avoiding or minimising the shifting. Do you think it would make a difference to the cloth?
I was in the process of warping my loom but wanted to make sure I had enough heddles on each
harness first.
I noticed that there is not a heddle count listed for each heddle on the M’s and O’s goes on a 2nd date.
Is there an easy way to find out how you would do that other then counting each heddle in the pattern?
Thank you for any help.

Really enjoyed the M's & O's on a 2nd date. I might put on a 3rd warp of the same structure.
Hi Amanda, the threads aren’t shifting in the pw’ish….to get the closest thing we can with this threading you end up with 3 ends that weave perfect plain weave and then the next 2 weave together….it really is a beautiful texture :)
I signed up in late november and have used the time to take a crash course on all the aspects of weaving I wasn't so sure about or hadn't tried yet. I have learned so much, not least that it really is possible to wind the warp five ends at a time, and that using my fingers to thread rather than the hook is, for me too, much quicker.
I pitched in at season 7 and made 3 tea towels. Then Season 8, (using 8/2 cotton leftovers and hemp and linen for the weft) I wove a sampler, then a bag. This seemed quite daunting at first - it does need concentration and constant counting, but all becomes easier to manage as it gets more familiar, and then goes quite quickly.
Now - can anyone tell me how to upload two images? I can't find the topic in the help section.
Hi Ann - go to the top of every page and click on Resources. When that opens up you will see the word Forum, click on that and you will find "Uploading Photos" - click there to get instructions ;-)
Very nice Ann,
If you choose the image type with "url" in it, it will post here as the actual photo, instead of a link.
Thanks - I'll try that next time.
I enjoyed this texture very much. I am obsessed with making Gamp ...Used cotton. I was not sure what I should do with it. Kitchen towel is not very popular in Japan. At least, within my small circles of friends. Sewed several gamp together and made two towel blankets.
Another time, you could weave placemats rather than kitchen towels. 😉 Well done!
I made 2 cushion covers with 8/2cotton for my summer house. Oh my! I found very similar one by Beth on upper thread. Anyway. 8/2 cotton in 16 epi sett is very soft for cushion covers. BUT, shu cares? I love the touch.
Snap, Musmikosaka! Good job. Aren't they fun to weave.
