Hello!
I'm getting ready to start winding the warp for a set of these towels and have the following question:
On page 10 of the TT handout in the Warp Sequence section, there are five groupings of warp that alternate between navy and one of the parrot colors. Why do the 1st, 3rd and 5th pairs start with navy and the 2nd and 4th start with one of the parrot colors. I'm thinking this is written this way for a reason and not just a random thing. I'd appreciate learning why it's that way.
Also, this is the widest warp I've ever wound due to the 24 EPI, so I'm wondering how many warp chains it takes to get the whole thing wound. I'm using a Schacht wall mounted warping board that has pretty long pegs. .
Many thanks, as alway--
Adrian
Hi Adrian,
You probably have found the answer by now but I just spotted your thread! It's a good question and thought in case someone else was wondering the same... :) Sorry for such a late reply!
Why 1st, 3rd and 5th pairs start with navy while 2nd and 4th start with another colour is to create the alternating 5 stripe design in the warp.
Jane kept everything divisible by 4 for this project. When you are pulling the threads off your lease sticks, you’ll first start and thread the 16 Navy. Then your first alternating Navy/Apricot, your Navies will be threaded on 1s and 3s and your Apricot threaded on 2s and 4s. Then 12 Navies.
When you reach the next alternating pair, Pale Orange/Navy, your Pale Oranges will be threaded on 1s and 3s and your Navies will be threaded on 2s and 4s and so on.
