On the video, I watched Jane's feet and she seems to have her tie up reversed from what the PDF shows??
I have my David sinking shed arranged with A and B on treadles 3 and 4, using my left foot, and plain weave on 7 and 8, using my right foot.
Just curious.
Turned taquete treadling
I am having the same confusion. Page 10 of the PDF shows a different treadling to what Jane is doing with her feet in the video. Page 10 indicates using the same tabby, her feet use alternate ones. I notice underneath the episode in the questions, someone else had the same query.
I also have a David, but haven't threaded up just yet.
Jane arranges the tie up to make it easier for her and suggests we do the same. So her treadles may be tied up in a different order. I don't try to follow what she is doing with her feet for that reason. I will have to look at page 10 again. I did wonder about this on the David loom as this is the loom I have as well. Did you reverse the tie up or do it as written?
I've had a look and can't see what you mean. The tabby will be on two treadles anyway, perhaps I am not understanding your question properly. As for the David, I see the tie up is for a sinking shed so no problems there. I will be doing these towels when I finally get back to my loom after a break due to disasters in my home and family as they are something useful though I don't do all the projects in the course as it gets too expensive to buy all that weaving yarn. Cotton is very expensive in UK.
Maggie - I'm no longer sure what confused me, but I have now mastered turned taquete and made a scarf. I printed out the draft on page 6, and threaded and tied up just as shown. I also treadled just as Jane does in the video. It turned out perfect. The tabby treadles are on the right and do not alternate within each block. Its the float treadles on the left which alternate. I think that is what confused me.
The weaving is easy and I like that you can use all sorts of threads in the warp. I used quite a fine mercerised cotton from my stash. I don't need any more tea towels at the moment.
I did weave two very narrow samples to see what coloured wefts would look good. Its a very versatile weave.
I will TRY and upload a photo.

My turned taqueté scarf - cotton and silk.
Ann, your scarf is very lovely. Soft colors are perfect for Spring and Summer.
Beautiful, Ann.
