At one point in this gamp, the draft calls for DDDD/LLLL and then says '"warping with 2 ends in your hand." It looks like 8 ends to me and I can't figure out how one can do it holding just 2 threads. Thank you for any help for this newbie.

Another thread here got me to thinking that maybe you could try warping two warps ala Season 7 Episode 1
Tamar, you have probably moved on by now, but just in case you haven’t, Jane refers us back to:
“Note: please review Season 1 Episode 1.3 “making a Warp with multiple ends” and Season 1 Episode 2.4 starting at 14:48 “threading multiple ends from your cross.”
Hi, I'm repeating a question from above:
At one point in this gamp, the draft calls for DDDD/LLLL and then says '"warping with 2 ends in your hand." It looks like 8 ends to me and I can't figure out how one can do it holding just 2 threads.
I've watched the videos but that specific section has me baffled. how do I do this holding 2 threads?
Thanks,
Julia
Hi Julia,
The 2 ends in your hand is 2 ends of Dark and 2 ends of Light.
On the 2.4.1 video at the beginning 4:20, Jane shows on the blackboard how you will be pulling them off the lease sticks for the 4D and 4L. For your warp start with 2 Dark and going once (these are part of the first 4 darks), cut and attached 2D and 2L. With the 4 in your hand warp until you have 44 more threads, total now should be 46 threads warped. Cut those there and then attached 2L and warp these once. I think I did the math ok that!
Thank you! I just rewatched that video and now it makes sense! I think I needed to warp the first sequence or two first, then puzzle a bit, then read your note and watch the video with the board explanation again.
The new website is gorgeous!
Thanks again,
Julia
That's great Julia! We will add a note on the PDF to make it a bit clearer on warping with the 2 threads part for this section :)
Glad you like the new website! The gals in the studio worked really hard on it, we're happy how it turned out!
My confusion was then threading heddles and reversing the order from top down to bottom up. My first striped warp. Right handed threader.
I started threading the wrong sequence and was co confused why my count was off. Started swapping out threads on the cross and realized something didn't feel right. ?: Are we supposed to then thread them backwards or continue the same pattern. EX- DDLL wound warp- thread it DDLL or LLDD? Hope as written because I followed the same sequence as winding warp and all threaded.
Hi Holly,
For an example the DDLL section, your first thread you should thread is the Dark and end with the last Light. So your first section of 48 Dark/Light of the warp, you'll start threading with the Dark.
On this video at the very beginning, Jane goes over how it's threaded at the loom https://www.schoolofweaving.tv/season-2-episode-4-the-colour-weave-sample/videos/2-4-2-at-the-loom
I'm doing the same. I realized why we order multiple cones so we can draw from both. I held 2 and wound that twice DD,DD and then switched to LL,LL. repeat.
