My friend has this picture from Iceland of a blanket segment that looks to be in a frame. She wants me to weave her something like this. I have not got into season 6 on blocks and units yet, as I’m still working through seasons 3 and 4. I am thinking this is a block structure. It looks like plain weave, yet I can’t tell for sure and in some areas it even looks like twill (in the lower left narrow band).

My first thought was that it was a double weave structure. But I’m now wondering if it is summer and winter. I don’t see the telltale signs of S+W of the spotting in the narrow bands of white. I do see spotting of dark and light in the larger fields of light and dark.

If this is a block structure, is it 3 blocks? Any thoughts would be welcome.

Secondly, I’d like to weave this in a double width blanket. I have an 8 shaft loom. I realize that this structure may not fit on an 8 shaft loom if woven double wide.
