I would like to weave lightweight napkins to match the placemats for Monk's Belt Episode 3. I want to use 2/16 for the pattern, if possible. What cotton yarn could I use for the tabby?
THANKS
Annette
The pattern uses 8/2 for warp and tabby and 8/4 for pattern. If you use 16/2 for warp and tabby, you could use 8/2 for pattern. If you use 16/2 for pattern, you would need a really fine thread for warp and tabby...or stick to 16/2 throughout and the pattern would just not be as dominant.
Sampling is definitely your friend.
Thanks Cheryl. That is very helpful. I think using 16/2 for both the warp and tabby, and 8/2 for the pattern will make the napkins lightweight enough. As you mentioned, sampling is key. I LOVE the weaving learning process.
Your very welcome...JST has sure upped my learning over the years!! I hope you photograph and share your napkins when you're all finished!!
