Hello fellow weavers!
I am trying to do the sample and am completely confused. I realize that we are supposed to be referring to page 4 in the supporting materials for the treadling, but I am lost on how to proceed. For example, version #3 calls for lace floats in A followed by lace floats in B. If I refer to the chart that would be treadles 4/3 for A, and treadle 1/2 for B. If I am to understand the plain weave, for Lace floats in A you would treadle 1/3, 4/3, 1/3, 4/3, 1/3. And for Lace floats in B it would be 2/4, 1/2, 2/4, 1/2 2/4?
I appreciate any further clarification in this,
Patty
Patty, can you please tell me which lace episode you are working on?
Hi Sandra, I am doing the sample for Huck Lace. I am trying to understand "The mother of all treadling" on page 4. It is probably as simple as it looks, just scroll down each row to find what is outlined in the different versions (1-12). And if one of the samples "shares" a tabby, do you always throw the opposite tabby so it doesn't pull out between the shares? On version 5 and 7, treadle 1/3 is shared (it comes two in a row) so I need to throw 2/4 to keep in down?
Thanks so much for you help!
Hi again Patty - I just went back into the episode with the draft in hand and watched episode 5.3.2 Huck Drawdowns. If you go to the 1 hr. 6-minute mark you will find Jane explaining how samples share tabby picks. Jane explains it there better than I could write it out. I have a weaving friend that often says "suspend disbelief" and this might be a perfect time to try her motto ;-) Try it - if it gives you the same result as the sample that Jane shows - then you are good to go. If not, let me know.......
