I would like to save my linen yarn and use a cotton for the canvas weave sampler. What weight cotton would b e best. I hate using such nice yarn for samplers. What do folks do with the samplers besides look at them at some time in the future.?

I used some 8/2 cotton and while it fluffs more when wet finished, it still gave me the practice using the canvas weave. I did have to be careful not to beat too hard. Looser is much better.

I resolved my reluctance to use linen for the canvas weave sampler. I purchased more linen, then increased the width of the project to 22 inches by repeating the first section onto the left side of the project with another divider to set it off. I changed my contrasting divider threads to plumb (I am not a fan of grey) and doubled them in the heddles (making a total of 4 threads) . I then wove each them 22 inches long using one type of the pattern repeats for each. I will use them as napkins.
