I have a silly question regarding sett and lace.

In general the setts have been looser than what we've used from past seasons. The towels we made for season 5 episode 7 had a lovely drape but if I wanted a firmer towel in a lace, the holes would become less prominent or even disappear.

Is this still a lace then? Is it wrong to sley with a higher sett ? I hope this makes sense.

Lace is a structure and you can weave it at any sett you want. Most of the projects in the lace year were designed for scarves that get wrapped and tied around your neck so that is why I opened the sett. A towel doesn't have to be drapey, it needs to be more absorbent which is why I wove them at 18, but I love them at 16 too. So really, it is a preference and you get to choose whichever you like. Super cool, huh?

And, as a final note, I’ve really enjoyed this and all the seasons so far. It’s been a joy to be able to look at a weaving book and be able to identify threadings!
