I've been reading Donna Muller's book Handwoven Laces at Jane's suggestion - thanks! It's been very helpful along with watching Jane's episode. In her section on denting in the canvas weave chapter she talks about the importance of putting doubled ends in the same dent - not splitting them. I am getting ready to weave Jane's sampler from Episode 2 and the draft calls for an 8 dent reed, 2 ends per dent. I only have a 6 dent reed so I was going to follow the substitute denting chart which uses a 2-3-3 denting to get 16 ends per inch. Will this create a problem in keeping doubled ends in the same dent?
