Hello! I have been so anxious to start weaving turned twill and using my full 8 harnesses on my Spring 2. Unfortunately when I started weaving I noticed I was getting skipped threads that are threaded on shafts 5,6,7,8. The shed doesn't lay close to the shuttle race and that's where I'm snagging extra threads.

What I'm seeing when I step on a treadle it's the upper lamms that aren't sinking enough to rest on the shuttle race.

My Spring has happily woven 4 harness projects without any need to change the beater height and it seems like this started after tying up the other 4 shafts. I double checked the shaft and lamm measurements on Louet's website and my loom is correct. Is it strange that I'd need to change the beater height using 8 shafts if it was fine using 4 shafts?
If anyone has insight I'd be so grateful. In the meantime I've contacted Louet's Zendesk.

When you did the tie-up for all eight shafts, did you use the lowest possible opening on the Texsolv connecters looped onto the screw heads? Sometimes if you use a higher opening, the shed isn't as good. This is the first thing that I've done wrong in the past that comes to my mind when you describe the issue.

Thank you for your reply, yes I double checked that I used the first "real" opening. The beater bar is okay for the first 4 shafts and I'm reticent to lower it for the latter shafts. I'll check to see if I used the first opening when I looped the Texsolv to the lamms. I'll report back if I figure this out!

I thought I'd report back in case there are any other new weavers getting to know their looms. After making sure that the measurements matched those that Louet had published on their site, I simply raised my beater. Such an easy solution that made everything fine. I did get to know my loom better and got over the fear of adjusting things when needed. I happily finished the rest of my Turned twill towels. Thank you Rebecca for offering your advice.
