Hello Weavers! I'm just wrapping up this project and wanted to share how it turned out. There was so much to learn, and I love how Jane just walked us right into it. I used 16/2 cotton as designated for the warp and 20/2 silk for the supps, and then I used all silk for the weft. I think the finished piece feels scarf-like and flowing, not at all like service cloth. I left the fringes untwisted because I like the contrast between all that order and the unruly warp. I used most of the motifs in the handout to generate a piece 77 inches long. I dyed the silk myself and the colors ended up a bit more muted than I had planned but I like the finished effect. Kind of hard to mess up silk. :)
For the back I did some creative trimming of the supps after a thorough wet finishing and hard press with the iron on damp cloth.
I used this project as a proof of concept for the work I am doing on my weaving app -- it really put it through its paces! If you want, you can see the model I made here:
