Hi Marit,

At the beginning of the loom video Jane explains that she needs to start on the left with Loden if she wants her join to be on left side because she has to throw her first pick across (left to right - top layer) and then back (top layer) with her second pick so her shuttle is on the left when it goes down into the bottom layer. The join needs to form on that third pick. Otherwise, if she started on the right, the join would be on the right side when the third pick comes is thrown. So she's weaving top, top, bottom, bottom.

I think she must have some other explanation too. I always have the join at the left side, weaving top-bottom.bottom, top, and again top, bottom, bottom, top. I think maybe she wants a firm start to stop the beater when she weaves the bottom layer ( 2 picks insted of 1) . That's what I was thinking, just wanted to know if I was thinking right. :-) Maybe it doesn't mather at all. :-) Me overthinking :-)
