I have made a silly mistake and have totally confused myself. I wound the warp color sequence as written. I could not put the entire warp on my board so I divided it in 2 segments. Segment 1 was stripe then log cabin. Segment 2 was another stripe ( I wanted symmetry ) for a table runner. I put the first segment ( stripe and log cabin ) on and slid it to the left on the back beam, then put on Segment 2. The stripes are ok but the log cabin segment is going the wrong way. With the symmetry and framing threads I am afraid it won't work out correctly as I weave the pattern. I hope this makes sense. I would rather correct now if needed rather than later. I have thought about it so much today I have totally confused myself. Thanks for your suggestions. Peggy
Season 3 Episode 3 Log cabin
How many yards have you got? If you are a new weaver, I would recommend to just go with how you have beamed the warp. If you are more experienced, you might be able to adapt the threading or treadling to get the weave pattern you desire. I have unwound a 3.5 yard warp once, and rewound, but you probably need help. The lease sticks need to keep the cross. The warp needs to stay neat. Then switch positions of your 2 sections. If I understand you correctly. What ever you do to rectify your situation, or instead, go with the way things are now, it is a journey of discovery. Don’t worry too much, as you will learn so much.
Thank you Barbara. It's only about 4.5 yards so you may have the right idea in leaving it alone. It may be ok but I do admit I drive my self crazy when I don't get it right. You are right, I did learn something. I will keep going and see where I land. Thanks again.
For my table looms (I have a sectional beam on my floor loom), I tie the top layers of the lease cross with white shoe strings, and the bottom layers of the cross with dark shoe strings. If I am making multiple warp chains, I will also label them #1, #2 etc.
what a great idea Cheryl
