Help, Im in over my head with my supplemental warp project! I have 2 PW techniques going on here-collapsible weave with brushed mohair as a wide supplemental warp.
Here is my treadling tie up as in season 3 unit 8 for beginning supplemental warp:

I am not liking how the mohair is weaving up in my structure of using star, star; square, square treading. I believe the tie-up and the structure is working as intended but I also have a merino in the mohair strip that is on shafts 1&2, while the mohair is on shafts 3&4. The 2/20 tussah silk non-shrinkers are in alternating 2" strips with the mohair/merino strips. The silks are on shafts 1&2.
The project is set at 12epi for the 2/20 tussah silk and the mohair is at 6epi as a supplemental warp. The merino is at 6epi in PW, within the mohair, on shafts 1&2.
A sample I did in PW, with the mohair and silk, was at 8epi to compromise for the needs of the mohair. I did my sample before I learned about supplemental warps. The silk is too open, and the mohair is slightly tight with the silk at 8ppi
Here is my sample:

I was striving for a balanced weave so I went with the 12epi for the silk to try and accommodate the open weave needed for the mohair, at 6epi. I am weaving at 12ppi with 2/20 tussah silk.
This is the result below. I think the merino is not needed within the mohair strips. I think it is keeping the mohair too cramped. I think I should take them out. I want to continue using the treadling for the stars and squares, alternating sets of pairs to get the mohair to float over and under 2 picks of silk to keep it open. I want the mohair to be a fluffy as can be after fulling.

Should I pull out the merino?
