In the weft faced section of lesson 3, we are using 2 ply wool on a linen warp. In the twill section, using the concept of opposites, I find the pattern forms however continues to pack tighter as you go. I am new to wool so I am now sure how much tension I should put on the weft?...45 degree or arch the weft? Kiss the beat? I have primarily worked with cotton, linen and tinsel/wool blends...this is a different world. Thanks
When weaving with wool - keep the finished project in mind as you go. If it's a rug - big or small - you can pack it in because it needs to be a tight cloth after fulling. However, if it's a winter scarf to wrap around your neck - pack it in as close to your chosen sett as possible so that when you wind it around your neck, it will actually bend ;-) And - wool is wonderful to weave with - don't be afraid of it!!!
