Hello,
I have a question about the threading on my Louet Spring 1. I completed the first project for Supplementary Warps without problems except for broken warp threads. Now I am working on the Supplementary Warp and Weft lesson but I am only doing a supplementary warp, not weft. I am doing the 5 up/ 5 down collapsed scarf. I thought... I could only use 3 harnesses for this since all the supps are always either up or down. I didn't, however, because my loom treadles were already set up from the first project.
As I was threading, I recalled something in the Louet Assembly instructions which said you needed to use a minimum of 4 harnesses and that in "Using only two shafts for a tabby, you will overload the shaft bars and lams". I am technically using 4 harnesses but they are only holding the few supp threads and all my tabby threads are threaded on only harnesses 1 and 2. In this project, I hope it won't be a problem since the warp is only 14 inches wide but should I actually be threading tabby on 1 and 3, 2 and 4 and be using harnesses 5 and 6 for supplementary warp threads? Thanks.
Pam
Hi Pam - your question is one that will have to wait for Jane early next week. I don’t have a Spring Loom - so I’m not much help :-(
