I have a question about the color sequence for the warp on the season 2, episode 10 project. I warped starting with the upper left coordinate of the chart. 10 blacks, then 20 emerald and working my way down to end with the 20 lemon and 10 black. When threading my heddles I noticed the orientation now had the lemon strip beginning on the right side, and the emerald was on the far left side. Is this correct? The picture on the handout shows the lemon column on the right, but when watching Jane weave the emerald is the far right column.
When warping for color sequence is it always read from left to right (top to bottom) , or follow the right to left as for the warping sequence.. hope this makes sense. Thanks, Nancy
Warping primaries and secondaries color sequence
It's one of those "things". If you didn't start with your emerald stripe on the left as you are putting your warp in the raddle - you won't see it on the right when you are sitting at the loom. It will be flipped and the yellow stripe will be on the right. It's all about keeping in mind that the order of the colours you want to see when you are sitting at the loom, are where you start when you are loading your raddle at the back of the loom. Bottom line - Jane is weaving starting with the yellow and just moving up the chart from the bottom up - the way it would see it at the loom. When you've finished it - you can flip it any way you want ;-). Have I confused you even more?
Thank you, so when I look at the chart for the coulor sequence should I warp from the bottom right towards the top left? It’s so counterintuitive for me to visualize. I know that looking at drafts you start at the bottom right and move left for threading the heddles. So is it the same practice when viewing color sequence charts to work from right to left?
