S2-Episode 8 - Muted Colour Gamp on Natural Ground
Jane says practice and be bold, and I was! First I wove the gamps, then I removed all the natural stripes because I didn't know what else to make with them in the warp. I resleyed to 12 and wove a shawl with wool. Made a beautiful fabric, although it wasn't merino and doesn't have much drape. Then I resleyed back to 18 and wove 10 1/2" little napkins in the beautiful muted colorway. I'll be using that warp sequence again, without the yellow strip on the end. Thank you Jane, for taking me to unexpected places!
Beautifully done, Patricia! 👏
Beautiful!
Also loved that you were able to post the photos right in the thread.
Beautiful job. Neat to see all the different projects with the warp. Love the scarf most of all !
Patricia, when you wove the scarf, what ppi did you use with the warp at 12epi? Curious, because I am in the process of weaving a wool weft in the color and weave gamp at 12epi. I have my wool at 8ppi, and hope it has drape.
Definitely a fan of muted colors. I had fun with the clasped weft. It is fiddly, but I have ideas for several projects. The 20/2 linen was a dream to weave with - nicest selvedges I’ve ever woven!

Great project and it looks like you had fun!
When weaving with the 2/18 Merino for the weft towards the end of the warp, Jane opened the sett up to 12epi and fulled the finished product. If I want to just lightly "full", would I close the sett back up and that would keep more detail of the warp? I'm asking in preparation for possible weaving some family tartan with the 2/18 Merino (for both warp and weft and way down the road) and in some cases the thread count for a particular warp color is only 1 or 2. Do those threads get "lost" with more open setts and more fulling?
Loved this project and all the colour blending it created. Took it off the loom almost a year ago and though I’ve been wearing the scarf for ages I’m only now getting around to hemming and clipping loose ends.
Well done, Lisa! it feels good - sometimes...to get to the end of a warp!
