Hello,
I am in desperate need for help with a BIG mistake I’m afraid 😖
I am weaving a Rep weave and misunderstood that during the two color part of the warping I was supposed to hold two of one color and two of the other color. Instead I held one of each color. I realized my error when I started threading the heddles. So, I “fixed” the problem by slipping the four threads out of the cross, matching the pinks together and the oranges together and threaded the heddles. I thought this would be okay because I did this is the Color and Weave Gamp in Season 2. But now I realize that I could move colors to a different order because they were in the same cross position!! Aaargh!! Everything was actually weaving along nicely until a few spots became a tangled mess behind the heddles. I sure hope someone can tell me what to do to fix this warp 🙏. I’ll attach a photo of what I’m talking about.
Ouch!!! Things looked like the threads were happily weaving from the look of your cloth. Have you tried to see if you can get them in the right spot by seeing if you can separate them - it does seem like they were happy for a bit! If you discover that the answer is no - they aren't in the right order at the back - then the only thing I can think of you doing would be to cut off what you have woven. Then carefully retie the ends that are behaving to your cloth beam - making sure that all the good ones are secure. Then, bravely working 1 thread at a time putting them in the correct heddle and dent in your reed, until you have them all in the right place. Then - pat yourself on the back, take a deep breath and start happily weaving your cloth. Deep breath and keep us posted! Maybe someone else has a better idea!!!
Here is another suggestion.
Looks to me like the warp threads are twisting together at the back of the loom.
It also looks like this might be maintained by the 'stickiness' of the fibre.
As an absolute desperate measure to tame the so-and-so's you could try running the twist back towards the back beam. You will have to do either a thread at a time or as a group.
This generally doesn't untwist (in some cases it might) but will give you more room at the back of the loom so that a shed can be made.
The tangled mess may/will continue to advance towards your heddles as you advance your warp towards your cloth beam. In which case, you will have to repeat the cursed process all over again.
You might have to break some of the sticky fibre bonds that have glued the treads together. If you can it generally works out better.
In addition, you might use the side of a pen inserted where the tangles are (between the twist and the heddles - in the 'cross' as it were), which becomes a smooth surface to run those fibres backwards at the same time as separating the twist.
Hope that this makes a modicum of sense.
Good luck
