I should know better but I did everything wrong on my first threading of the new-to-me floor loom. I have been weaving on a rigid heddle loom for years and have got that down.
When putting the warp on the warping board, I did three threads at a time for about two inches. Without trying to keep them in any order. My daughter, an experienced weaver, said that when cranking the warp on, those threads will braid so badly, I'll get breakage and will have to put new threads in. She recommends I just take the thing off (I have thread it through the reed) and put it aside until I have more experience. Any other ideas about how to proceed, or if I should proceed? I am attempting to weave JST's beautiful Spring at the Cabin dish towel kit.
What loom are you weaving on? Do you have a good length between the heddles and the back beam? I'm just worried that if you cut it off, it could be impossible to straighten it out and get it on again. I'm guessing that your daughter might have a way in mind that it would work?
Another idea would be to remove the threads you wound as groups of 3 (that you hadn't separated) and move the rest of your threads over in your heddles to centre your warp. That way you could weave shorter and narrower towels that would be ideal hand towels for any kitchen or bathroom. Happy weaving and keep reminding yourself you are a beginning weaver and learning as you go.
