I'd like to warp multiple ends of 10/2 at a time, but only have have one fairly large cone of each color. I cannot figure out how to divide the cones to make this possible.
I tried a knitting yarn winder, but that ended up being a disaster -- the yarn was so fine that the ball collapsed and ended up a tangled mess. Winding bobbins seems like it would cause a lot of stops and starts, especially with a longer warp.
I know there is probably an obvious way to do this, but I'm not currently seeing it.
As a dyer, I often have small skeins that I need to deal with for easy warping. The Leclerc spools are perfect and they work on my bobbin winder. You can figure out the weight of yarn you’ll need from that cone, divide it in half and - after deducting the weight of the spool, wind and weigh until you have enough yarn - with a bit of fudge room. https://janestaffordtextiles.com/product/leclerc-styrene-spools/
