I want 18tpi on a 10 dent reed and it says to thread it 2,2,1 do i put two threads through the first texolve heddle two through the second and one through the third please clarify as i am being quite thick today sue
To get 17.5 epi with a 10 dent reed (as close as you can get on a 10 dent reed), you sley your reed (not your heddles) 1, 2,2,2. The numbers across the top of the Reed Substitution Chart are the various reed sizes. The numbers in all but the furthest left column are the epi. The furthest left column is the sleying repeat needed to get your epi. Hope this helps you understand the Reed Substitution chart - I keep a printed copy near my loom so I can quickly refer to it when I’m sleying my reed ;-)
You can review all about sett by watching Season 1 Episode 4 again - https://www.schoolofweaving.tv/season-1-episode-4-let-s-have-a-little-chat-about-sett
