Hi!
I am weaving my first towels. Because of a stupid error on my side part of my towels have lower tension than the rest. (While rolling on the warp some of the paper on the warp beam folded double making that part thicker than the rest). Basically 1/3 on the left side is like this. Can I fix this? I was thinking of sticking a pencil (without point) underneath that part of the warp on the warp beam, and every time I'd advance the warp I would move that pencil back to the same spot. But that might be a terrible idea?😅
Right now my towel stripes are not straight because of this so I would really like it fixed.
Is there anything I can do? (I have pictures but can't see a way to attach them?)
Thanks in advance!
Your idea isn't terrible! You will see Jane using that method in the Supplementary Warp episode and at other times when she has a warp with different tensions in it. However, that being said - I think a pencil might be too short. A metal rod would be better - one that is long enough that you could hang weights off both ends with an S hook and weights off it. That section would then just slide evenly down as you move your warp forward. You can watch Jane do this in Season 3: Episode 8 - at the 1:14:53 mark in the Weaving your Supplementary Warp Sample video. You can do it and it works!!!!
Thank you that's very helpful!
