I'm a potential weaver. I've been watching these workshops to try to get my head around weaving. First off, let me say how great they are. Especially, season 2 on the sample gamp. Absolutely phenomenal. Here's my question: why bother using 4 shafts for plain weave? Why not keep it simple and just use 2 shafts?

You certainly can just use 2 shafts! Weavers since the dawn of time have been doing that. However, if you have 4 shafts why not use them, it’s good practice for what is ahead of you. Jane’s focus for the first 5 seasons so far is the endless possibilities for designing your cloth on 4 shafts. Enjoy the ride! We are here if you need us ;-)
