I have been given a box full of Saori brand "heavy cotton". I'm brand new to weaving and want to warp my 4 shaft Gilmore just to give it a try. The EPI (with spaces for a balanced fabric) looks to be 10 epi for plain weave. Can that be right? Is it similar to 8/4 cotton on Jane's Master Chart? Thanks so much. Lisa
Hello Lisa- I am no expert, but I suggest you try weaving a sample and try out two or three different epi on the same warp. Hopefully then you will be able to see for yourself which epi produces the kind of result you are looking for, depending on what you plan to use your project for. Experimenting seems to be half the fun with weaving and Jane certainly seems to encourage it!
