Love love the videos! I am having problems chaining the warp. I seem to create a twist while chaining...enough that I need to untwist in the middle of chaining. What is the technique for not introducing a twist while chaining the warp? Or, does it even matter?

I have that issue as well sometimes but the twist always comes out when I unchain the warp while dressing the loom.

Me too.. but it doesn’t always unchain when I warp.

I’m trying to move my other hand ahead of the chain and hold tight to the warp before chaining . It’s a bit easier, and I don’t have as much twist. However, I still have trouble maintaining even tension. Maybe it comes with lots of practice.

I don't "chain" the warps from my warping reel. After I put in the choke ties, ties in the cross etc., as I unwind the warp I drop it into a plastic bucket. Works for me.

That sounds like a good idea, and easier! Does that work well with longer warps? I found a way to make the heavy book method work in my small space. Do you keep moving the buckets/boxes as you beam the warp? I still put in the choke ties....I'm not as confident as Jane to not use them ;)

So, I only do this with my two table looms as I have a sectional beam on my David 3. Probably the longest warps I put on those looms are 6 yards. I do "yank and crank" with those so don't need to weight the warps as I wind on. I wind a little, go to the front of the loom and yank evenly across the warp. Go to the back of the loom and insert a warping stick, wind on some more and then back to the front of the loom.

This has always worked well for the table looms.
