Just need confirmation on something because after doing so many calculations, my brain is in a muddle. I'm making 3 shawls on my loom. I need 9 yards of warp (1 color only) for each of my 600 ends. I measured and tied on a guide yarn to my warping board. From top beginning (where cross will be) to the bottom (where I circle back around and head back to the top) it measures exactly 9 yards. Going back up the board to the top is another 9 yards. So... to get all the yarn wound that I need for my project, I will need to do 300 REVOLUTIONS around the warping board- top to bottom and back to top. So I count #1 from top to bottom and count #2 from bottom to top, at the top I start with #3, etc. Question 1) Is that correct?
I have to break up the warp into individual chains since there are so many threads and I cannot safely wind all at once. Unfortunately, my fingers aren't as adept as Jane's when she counts at the cross so my count gets a little sketchy too so I'm trying to just count on one of the lower pegs, 1 thread at a time, whether it is going down or coming back up. Question #2) I think so far I made 2 separate chains with 200 threads in each one. I'm hoping I only have to do one more chain with 200 threads on it, based on my counting. Am I right?
It sounds like you are correct for both questions. I also can't count as well as Jane. I have sometimes used a loop of yarn as a counter and chain them together in groups of 10.
