here's something new (to me). i'm in the middle, almost exactly the middle, of threading my heddles for some dishtowels. I have just come across a thread pair which seems to have broken. i have one abnormally long end, and there's no sign of the other side of that end. Presumably it's wound somewhere onto my warp beam. so my question is how best to handle this. I could easily exclude this thread from the threading, and perhaps when that thread comes out of the warp, i can just remove the whole thing. It seems to me it will just make my warp 2 threads narrower. no big deal for a towel. Does anyone see any problem with "orphaning" this thread pair like this, or is there a better way to handle this situation? It seems kinda needlessly complex to add a repair thread right from the get-go, but maybe i'm wrong. this is only my second warp ever. any suggestions are appreciated. thanks.

I would add it in from the get go. I did leave it out once as I thought it wouldn’t matter and it bugged me to the end.

So, this morning i looked things over, and suddenly realized that the broken thread is in the middle of a section that used the one color of yarn that i ran out of when making the warp. I don't think there's an easy way to fix this without at least one decent sized extra piece of the same warp yarn, so i'm going to simply remove that thread from the piece, and proceed as if it was never there. it's part of a fairly wide band of one color, right in the middle, so i don't really think it will be a big deal. if it turns out this was a big mistake, i will post again when i discover the truth.

I just took my second warp off the loom where I had the same problem that John had. It did give me a funky line up the middle of the towels, but I actually kind of like it. Not sure an experienced weaver would.
