Wondering where to put the lease stick cords on a Schacht Baby Wolf. In the castle above the harnesses seems too high, below the harnesses to low and both lack adjustability. Along the side within the harnesses?

I took the string that Jane shows attached to all her looms in Season 1 and attached it to the sides of the loom about midway next to the shafts. Once you tie the other end to the back beam, they hang just above the back beam.

Hi Mary, because it’s Plain Weave you can easily create a spot to put your lease sticks back in. Just lift shafts 1-3 - insert a lease stick and then lift 2-4 and put in your other lease stick. Secure them the way you normally do and then your warp should be spread out the way you wound it. Unfortunately, the section you added may not be as cooperative, so you might have to fiddle with it a bit. Hopefully, by doing this you should be able to see what’s causing your loose threads. Keep us posted!

It's the 6-yd warp for Season 2.

There are several 6-yard warps in Season 2 ;-) You are going to have a lot of fun weaving your way through this season! I can see 2 options. 1) If you still have your lease sticks holding your cross, you could carefully rechain the warp and start again. You would have to make sure that your tension is even as you rewind on. 2) Depending on how big the projects are in this particular sample set - you could hemstitch your samples and cut them off. Between each sample, work at the tension between you and the back beam of your loom before you tie it back on to weave another sample. You will have more waste and might not get the full set of samples woven, but should be able to work out tension problems that way, and still have something to show for it.

There is no room for me to use Jane's pile of books way of winding on my warps. So - I spend time going between the back and front of my loom. I check to make sure that everything is even in the front and then go to the back to make sure that the paper is feeding in the way I want it to. I also pull on the paper as Jane demonstrates, to work any looseness out of the paper before I continue. Have fun with Season 2!

Hi Jennifer! If your Baby Wolf has a strong warp stick that is attached to your warp beam in several spots - you will be fine. I just went and looked at the video that Schacht has for assembling the loom and you are good to go with the texsolv and stick that they provide!

Sorry to have missed your question, Gaynor! Did your loom come with the wooden ones? They will work to use instead of the rod. If you want metal rods, I'd get them cut at a hardware store to the same length as your wooden ones. You need one that is thick enough to not bend easily - the one on my David loom is less than 1 centimetre in diameter. Hope this helps.

We're happy to be there at the beginning of your shaft weaving journey! Look for a rod about 3/4 of a cm wide - I was thinking 1 cm circumference, not diameter. I'm glad you reached out again - which gave me a chance to reread my message to you! You don't want it to be too heavy or more expensive than necessary!

Can you put a stool over your treadles and get to your shafts that way? Every loom is different - so Jane's rule still stands - there are no rules with whatever you do in your weaving. You are working with your loom, your equipment and you need to do whatever works for you. I searched for a picture of your loom on the web and couldn't find it on a quick search. Can you post a photo so we can see what it looks like?

Kathy, Is the breast beam screwed on or do you think it's glued on? If there are no screws (screws are easy to remove and are how both of my looms work), the breast beam may just be pressured fitted and will pop off with a little tap from underneath with a hammer.

Thank you, Sandra. I am not sure how to post pictures on this forum. I DID finally "see" that I have screws attaching the breast beam and was able to easily remove them and the breast beam. Funny that I had it in my mind that I wouldn't be able to follow the instructions because of "this issue" and there was no issue at all. Thank you for your kind support.
