As to the Up and Down treadles, it'll depend on your loom and that your ups are up when you need them to go up and same with your downs, they are down when needed. Hope this helps :)

Hi Cynthia, sorry for the delay in responding. Yes you are correct that the Up and Down are part of the pattern and will create the floats. They are your supplementary warps threads in Lime Light on your loom. The floats if they are Up, they will be on the top part of your warp when your shed is open along with the regular threads and when you need them Down they should be at the bottom of your open shed with the other regular threads. On the video link below at the 39:38 timestamp Jane is weaving a colour sequence with Ups and Downs and it's good visual. When you are weaving, if your ups happen to be down and your downs are up but you want to keep them in the same order as the draft, retie them, for example following the draft as is, if your Ups are tied 1/3/4 and 2/3/4 but are acting as downs, tie the empty boxes instead and they should lift your supplementary threads when you treadle those 2 up treadles.
