Hi
I am trying to weave a small pattern I have done on graph paper using the above weave structure. I understand it's a 3/1 twill and a 1/3 twill which produces weft faced and warp faced. That part is fine but it's the pickup section that doesn't seem to work. There are a few videos on YouTube without a tie up that renders them useless. I have look for a book on this weave structure but have failed miserably. If anyone could help I would be grateful. I would not mind paying for a weaving draft. Many thanks Chris
False Damask pickup
What do you mean by "pick up section"? Do you mean at the selvages? Do you have floating selvages?
Hi Barbara
Thank you for getting back to me. If you look on YouTube and type in false damask pickup there is a lady weaving on there a picture. Every square on the graph paper represents 4 picks of false damask. You have to pick up warp threads on shafts 2 and 3 and weave one row then pick up warp threads on 1 and 4 and weave row 2 and then pick up 1 and 4 again and weave row 3 and last you pick up warp threads 2 and 3 again and weave row 4. If there is no tie up box I do not know what shafts are lifted for each of the 4 rows. I want to weave letters of the alphabet and this structure would be great if I could get it to work. My other option is double weave pickup but I didn't really want a cloth double the thickness. Thank you for getting back to me. I hope I haven't opened a can of worms. Chris x
