I'm new to weaving and have just signed up for Jane's seasons of weaving. Im wanting to get a loom that is perfect for following the projects on the seasons. Please advise. I do own an older Leclerc Dorothy Table Loom 15 3/4 ". Is the Dorothy sufficient for the projects or do I need a larger loom? Thanks so much. I'm really excited to be a part of this group.
Jane does a good job to have most of the projects be compatible with table looms. I think there’s one in Season 4 that is wider but you could do it in smaller sections. Your loom being smaller than some of the pieces, means you’ll need to adjust the patterns to suit your looms width.
A few of us have Louets, I got my 90cm David 3 last year and it’s wonderful. I would say use your loom now, unless it’s not fulfilling your needs or you need to be more ergonomics/space conscious. Of course there’s looms at many price ranges, widths, etc but it’ll depend on you, your needs, space, etc. For example, I want a loom I can fit in my car or put on my balcony during the summer ( and bring it back in at night), but my David won’t do it. This was not something I thought I wanted or thought of before. So I’m looking at a folding floor loom. But I have other needs this second loom will fulfill as well.
Just food for thought 😊
