Good morning Jane and all. I do use my warping wheel for my David 3. I have the sectional beam kit installed on my David with the spacers set at one inch.
I wind off one inch sections on my warping wheel to whatever length is needed for the project. Color changes are easy and don't require knots on the warping wheel.
Then, I move the wheel (which is behind the warping beam) to center the warp to the section I will be winding on the loom. I tie the section onto the cord attached to the loom and wind it on taking care to evenly fill the section. The AVL warping wheel has a tension system built in so each section winds on with the same amount of tension.
When I get to the end of a section, I use blue painters tape to keep the threads in order for sleying. I do have the cross maker for my wheel, but the tape works great and is much easier/faster.
When all of the sections are wound on, I sley, one section (inch) at a time.
I have the Season 6 Episode 9 scarves on the loom right now, but LMK if you'd like me to take photos when I put the next warp on this loom.
