Not sure where to ask a question on the new site,
I am starting the monte cristo boucle baby blanket. My question is I have no access to a 8 dent reed, as called for. Would I be better using a 6 dent reed or a 10 dent reed. I do not want to adapt to the size of the dent because of the threading not being consistent.

I would use the 10 dent reed and sley it 0-1-1 which spreads your warp out just as nicely with an empty dent between 2 with 1 thread each.
Ok please be patient with me. the warp sleying sequence call for one end per dent for 44 dents. leave one empty dent. sley the 2 ends threaded together in one dent. leave one empty dent. then repeat 4 times.
So instead of using the sequence in the pattern use 0-1-1 ?
thanks for taking the time.

Not to worry! We all had to understand these tricky things that weaving throws at us at some point ;-) In your 10 dent reed, sley the first 2 dents with 1 thread in each dent, leave a dent empty and then repeat. You actually are sleying pretty much the same way you would in an 8 dent reed but leaving an empty dent between 2 threads so that you still have 8 epi but spread out over 10 dents instead of 8. Does that help?
