I can't figure out how to get a balanced weave.
Currently I have 132 ends (2 floating selvage threads) of 8/2 cotton on a counterbalanced loom. Threaded 18EPI. I very slowly and carefully wove 18 picks, using same yarn with a large angle and a gentle beat. It ends up measuring 18 ends per 1/2 inch.
Have I provided enough details for anyone to advise?
Thanks,
Donna
Hi Donna,
Oh, that's not fun! With floating selvedges, it sounds like you have a twill pattern? Can you share what your pattern is, a 2/2 twill, 3/1 or ... twills do draw in a bit. Also, if you warp tension is high, are you able to reduce it a bit to see if that works a bit better. Jane's mantra throw, beat, change shed, better back really helps to maintain the picks per inch. Hoping these help a bit :)
