Hi there -- I recently obtained a Louet Megado (32-harness, mechanical dobby). I thought I would be able to get instructions on paper or video from Louet on how to use it, but am finding that not to be the case. I've got an assembly manual but cannot find a use manual. Apparently such a thing doesn't exist. I heard that Jane worked closely with Louet so I wondered if she has any guidance on using the Megado. I know some things like the tiny raddle across the top are common to other Louet looms, but I was hoping to learn more efficiently about the Megado than just trial and error. Any guidance would be truly appreciated! -- Anne

There is a Louet Megado Facebook group that may be able to help you. Also Callie Booker has one that is mechanical and I recently read an article regarding using it. Perhaps on her Blog or newsletter?

Hi Anne, I understand you have been in touch with Dave at Louet. If you ask him any question he will be able to answer. There is a video on Youtube where I go over the Megado and how it works. It is hard to find because it looks like it is about the Delta loom. Here is the link and if you fast forward to 27:01 you will find the part about the Megado.

Thanks, Jane! Yes, I first checked the Louet website for info and then contacted Dave through the website. I think this video is exactly what I was looking for! I'm mostly stumped about where to sit when threading the heddles on all those harnesses. I really appreciate this forum -- thank you so much-- Anne

It is just the same as any other Louet loom so if you watch how I thread the heddles on the Spring in Season 1, you will do the same thing. Lift out the beater, take off the breast beam. Get yourself a chair with 4 legs that will fit over the lower rail in the front of the loom. I have tried with my feet on the big treadle and I have raised the back of the loom so the treadle is down. When I do that I stick a cone of cotton under it to hold it up....that puts the treadle right down. (you need to do what feels good for your body). It is a longer reach to thread but not too bad. When you think about it....it is only 52" deep from front to back. That has always blown me away....the way the entire back lifts with the treadl allows for such a short distance to that loom. Brilliant engineering.

Ok, you are amazing! This is exactly what I was looking for. After watching the video, I'll start with just 8 shafts to get the hang of it and not get overwhelmed. Thank you for making this less daunting! You've got a new fan :)

By the way the prior video was perfect -- just the kind of info I've been looking for. I keep going back to look at the loom and now all the springs and hooks are making sense. Thanks!

Ooh this is also Just what I was looking for as well.i have also just recently ordered one am trying to prep myself with some videos on how to use it. There is lots on Louet site re assembly but not much on how to actually use it. This feed is perfect. Thanks for the info.
