Hi Sue, I’m assuming you are changing the colour of your stripe with the same yarn as the stripe you want to disappear. I, personally, would not weigh down 75 threads together at the back of my loom - they wouldn’t be spread evenly as they reached your reed. I’ve never replaced that large a section of warp but I would warp the replacement warp in one bout but divide it at the back so it was spread out more - being careful to keep each section evenly weighted. Give it a try - you can’t lose if you are already unhappy with your warp ;-)

Jane left a buffer in between the two sections of the changed warp. She had already hemstitched the sample with the red zinger and if she left a fringe, the red would be part of that fringe or disappear into the hem. On the new section, she wove a header and the extra threads of the charcoal zinger will be taken care of the same way - trimmed for a fringe or hem. The change basically took place in the header section between the two different zingers. Make sense?

With the header woven to secure the new zinger, treat it as you would after you first tied on your warp. After your header which normally spreads the warp - but in this case, is there to get the correct tension in the new zinger - weave 1" or 1 1/2" ready to turn into a hem when you cut it off the loom. The extra threads from the old and new zingers will disappear when you separate your samples after you cut your cloth off the loom.
