Hello, I'm a new member. I'm weaving a denting sampler and I don't understand why the end threads keep separating during the weaving process. My squares aren't neat; they create a division. I am French and I hope what I am writing is clear. Thank you in advance for your help. Milène
Hi Milène,
How do you have 2 threads in each dent on your reed for the denting section?
Hi Ginette,
I have only one thread on my reed denting section. I tried to post a photo but it didn't appear.
Thanks Milène, your image did post, it's below here :) I just noticed you have 8 threads instead of 12 for each section. What size of reed is on you loom? If it's a 12 dent reed, those sections should have 2 per dent when using the 16/2 cotton. I like your colours :)
I have a reed with 8 threads per cm and a cotton-linen blend that has 12 turns per cm. For a plain weave, it would be 6 threads per cm, but I reinforced it a bit.. Actually, the result is nice, but I'm surprised by the gap that is created with the weaving.
Glad you like it so far Milène! If this is a sample that you are weaving, you could finish it up and then wash and see how it turns out. If you want to reduce the gaps, you could re-sley those outside threads and thread them in the dent closest to the dented sections and see how they turn out. In the lesson where Jane is weaving the sample around 24:30, there's a really good view of how the sample looks like on the loom. Here's the link to the video
