I had my Louet Spring II loom tied up for Jane’s Swedish Chef tea towels (Huck with Swedish lace) on 4 shafts. The two tabby treadles are tied up to shafts 1/3 and 2/4. The other 4 treadles are also tied up to these shafts which I will not need to weave a new plain weave draft. Can I leave these 4 treadles tied to the lams or should I untie them. Thanks, Diane
Hi Diane,
You'll be fine leaving the unused treadles tied up. Would love to see your Swedish Chef towels!
Thanks Ginette, I will send pics of my tea towels once I load them on IMGBB

Hi Ginette, attached are pictures of my Swed
ish Chef tea towels. This was my first project on my Louet Spring II loom and although I had trouble with floats, overall they turned out ok.

Hi Ginette, ALSo I agree with you about not needing to tie up my unused treadles to just use my tabby treadles, but when I asked Louet the same question, this is the response I got.
From Louet:
"If you have a tie-up where two treadles are set for tabby (plain weave) and you want to weave a 4-shaft PW pattern (point weave/pattern weave) using only the tabby treadles, it is not necessary to block the other shafts.
Untie the shafts you are not using from the lams to which they are currently attached.
If shafts remain tied in, they may move unintentionally. This can result in:
an unclear or uneven shed,
extra tension on the loom,
or difficulty for the shafts to release properly."
I'd be interested if you or Jane have experienced this difficulty.
thanks,
Diane
That's really good to know Diane! I don't have a Spring II, and best you follow the manufacturer's advice for sure and untie the shafts you are not using then. Glad you got in touch with them and passed on the info here!
Your towels look stunning! Love the blue and yellow together. Very nice :)
