I just got a new spring II loom and was having trouble getting a good shed. In trying to adjust it, I made it worse! Instead of raising the beater (which I now realize I should have done), I moved the shafts and lams from their original positions on the outer cords. Now, there’s uneven tension on those cords. Have I ruined this loom forever?
I’ve fussed myself.
Louet has a website and you can look for harness heights and a how to. My brain escapes me, but I think the locking pin needs to be in prior to measuring and they have a tip on how to use a stick - I think they reused a warping stick.
If it isn’t too off, the little rotating bit on both sides can be lowered or raised but you are limited. Otherwise slowly remove and reinsert the harnesses to the original height via the texsolv- I’m assuming that was what you may have done?
Hope this makes sense.
Louet is pretty fast at answering questions.
Also warped weavers on Ravelry has a a topic- regarding Louet loom questions. Everyone is very helpful on there and have tips and suggestions.
Hope this helps. And no, you haven’t ruined your Louet;).
Thx much. With the locking pin in, I did use the Louet specifications to set the heights of lams and shafts, and then made sure they were all aligned perfectly, from one to the next. So that’s not the problem. What seems to be wrong is from when I moved the shafts and lams from their original places along the side cords and in the process got the side cords unevenly tensioned. So now when I’m treadling, the some shafts raise on a slant—one side higher than the other. I can’t find anything from Louet that tells how to restore the side-cord tension and fix this problem.
