I was just wondering what people’s thoughts are on a 4 shaft Woolhouse Jack Loom, 45”?
Back beam folds up to the castle when not in use. Very light to treadle because of Woolhouse rollers and texsolv cords and heddles. Friction metal cord brake, double pawl cloth beam advance for fine contol. Heavy solid birch wood made in Armstrong BC in the Late 1970's. Only a few made. Back and front beams lift off, for easy threading. Lots of texsolv heddles on each shaft, counted out in groups of 10 for easy counting. 2 reeds included- your choice of 12 dent, 15 dent or 8 dent . extra one can be bought separately.
I’m looking at it tomorrow. TIA
I wouldn’t pay a lot for it. I’d get the 8 and 12 dent reed but not sure why they wouldn’t give you all of them. 45” is a wide loom and down here they are a hard sell since they require more room so they do not always have great resale except maybe Louet, AVL, McComber, Scandinavian looms.

Try weaving in it and see how it feels.
You could also see if warped weavers on ravelry has any advice. There is bound to be someone who has one or has owned one.
My 12 shaft Woolhouse table loom has been with me for about 25 years - I still use it and love it. As a bonus, it can fold up and be put away if needed. It was my first and only loom until I retired and added my Louet David. I’ve always been impressed with Woolhouse looms but didn’t have the space for a large floor loom. That’s a good price if it’s up and working the way it should. Spend some quality time with it tomorrow ;-)
Thanks guys, I appreciate your comments
I have an 8 shaft Woolhouse Tools Carolyn table loom. Bought it new a couple of decades ago. It is solid and very well made and is probably my most used loom. I've never seen one of their floor looms.
